Who is Cr Belinda Coates?


Belinda Coates is a passionate community advocate with a professional background in Social Work, Counselling and Psychotherapy. She has worked in health and human services, public service and as a tertiary educator. She also worked as a senior Counsellor/Advocate at Ballarat Centre Against Sexual Assault.


She stood as an endorsed Greens candidate in a number of Federal, State and Local Government Elections since 2006. In 2012 Belinda was elected to local government in the City of Ballarat as a Councillor for Central Ward. She has a diverse role as a Liveability portfolio Councillor and advocates strongly on social justice and environmental issues.


Belinda is passionate about gender equity and prevention of violence against women and is a consultant trainer for Women’s Health Grampians in their Communities of Respect and Equality (CoRE) Program working towards prevention of violence against women.
