RTN 2018 Welcomes Superintendent Jenny Wilson, speaking to "Our Streets"

Who is Superintendent Jenny Wilson?



Jenny Wilson is a Superintendent with Victoria Police and is currently the Divisional Commander of Western Region Division 3, a role she commenced in March 2018. Jenny is responsible for the delivery of all policing services across the Ballarat, Moorabool, Pyrenees, Golden Plains and Hepburn Shires; her priority is keeping these communities safe.

Prior to this position, Jenny worked in Victoria Police’s Crime Command as an Acting Superintendent as manager of the Specialist Support Division. Crime Command is responsible for investigating serious and organised crime at a state level. In this role Jenny managed services delivered by the Office of the Chief Examiner, Investigation Support, the Controlled Operation Registry, Criminal Intelligence Unit and coordinated the Tasking and Coordination process across the Command. These units provide specialist support functions to the command’s investigation units.


Jenny joined Victoria Police in 1989 and her policing experience has been primarily as an investigator and manager in the fields of sexual assault and child abuse, having served time at the Rape Squad, Divisional CIU's and Sexual Offences and Child Abuse Investigation Team.


Prior to joining the Crime Command, Jenny was the Officer in Charge of the Footscray Sexual Offences and Child Abuse Investigation Team (SOCIT) where she successfully managed the transition of this office from a victim initial action response unit to an investigation unit in 2009. Jenny also spent time upgraded as an Inspector, I&R Manager, PSA Inspector and T&C Manager in the Western Suburbs of Melbourne before being promoted to Inspector in 2014.


Jenny is a lifelong learner and holds a Masters in Education (Leadership and Management), Bachelor of Arts (Sociology), Graduate Certificate in Applied Management (Policing and Emergency Services) and Graduate Diploma Executive Leadership (Policing and Emergency Services) - residential component.


Jenny has always been motivated to service the community and continues to enjoy the diversity that comes with a policing career. She feels grateful for the opportunity at this stage in her career to experience rural policing and is relishing the challenge.
